Horse Racing Awareness Week – 29 March to 4 April 2009
 http://www.veggies.org.uk/event.php?ref=58

Please order your copies of the new Grand National leaflet today!

Animal Aid’s Horse Racing Awareness Week is held in the week running
up to the infamous Grand National, in order to highlight the cruelty
of this race in particular, as well as the racing industry overall.

The three-day Grand National event will be held from 2-4 April. The
course is made deliberately difficult to add to the ‘excitement’ of
the race and has claimed the lives of 36 horses over the last decade.
Animal Aid would like to see the Grand National banned, for good.

It is the one time during the year that most people will be tempted to
place a bet – often caught up in the media frenzy. It is precisely
these people we need to reach and tell them about the true horrors of
the horse racing industry, which is why we have produced a new,
double-sided A5 leaflet outlining the case against betting on the
Grand National.

Please order copies of the leaflet today, and distribute it to
friends, family, work colleagues, in the street and door-to-door. It
is vital to take the message to as many people as possible before the
Grand National race on 4 April. Contact  Fiona@animalaid.co.uk for
supplies and for more info.

Fight Against Animal Cruelty in Europe (FAACE) and Animal Aid have
organised a demo against the "Grand National" at the Aintree Race
Course on Saturday 4th April from 11.30hrs to 14.00hrs opposite the
main entrance to the Aintree Racecourse on the A59. This is in front
of the Aintree railway station entrance. For further details see  http://www.veggies.org.uk/event.php?ref=995 or email  action@faace.co.uk

Tourism is worth a whopping £576 million to the Oxford economy every
year. But most tourist don't realise that Oxford is a city of animal
abuse, and when they spend their money to look around historic sites
owned by Oxford University, their money goes to an institution that
tortures and mutilates living animals. Help spread the word to people
before they get to Oxford, about what really goes on behind the
dreaming spires.

Saturday 25th April
National March and Rally in London to mark World Day for Animals in
Laboratories.

There is less than one month to go until the National March and Rally
in London to mark World Day for Animals in Laboratories on Saturday
April 25th. It promises to be the biggest anti-vivisection march for
years, and will bring together campaigners from many different parts
of the movement. Already campaigners are planning to travel to London
from across the UK, with still more coming from other countries such
as France, Sweden, Holland, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Italy
and Spain. As well as seasoned campaigners, we also hope to attract
many new and young activists, some of whom were not even born when
many thousands regularly marched against animal experiments. With this
march we hope to revive the spirit of those marches, and unite the
movement in a show of strength and solidarity.

If you haven't already made travel plans, now is the time.
Coaches and minibuses have been organised from around the country,
contact  info@wdail.org with/for details of transport from your area.
