An island has been squatted in Kingston for the last month. Needs your help.

Ravens Island Thames Occupied as Eco Action
Due to the need for urgent environmental action. We have occupied an island in The Thames.

In these times of rising tides and melting ice shelves, we thought we should get a bit closer to studying the watery world and its rise.

We have an active possesion order on us and the council may try to evict any time,we are still negotiating with them, and may still be able to pull a deal if we get enough help support and projects here.
Our appeal was turned down at the high court on monday.
We have ancient land rights here granted by the treaty of Lambeth 1271( Google it),the pre runner to the Magna Carta.
This is common land that the council wants to flog off for a private hotel development.
This has been an island for peace treaties and parlay discussion and community use dating back to the Saxon Kings.
We need networkers ,builders, gardeners, admin, plumbers, designers, techies, permaculture, climbers, diggers, musicians, performers, skill shares, media skills, young and old, designers, project people and creators of the futures we want to see.etc etc
Come as soon as you can and help dig in for a better future .This is urgent hear the call for a gathering of the Tribes. We not giving in yet,u cant kill the spirit keep networking.

Ravens Ait Island is a unique wedding and conference centre with halls, many rooms, workshop spaces, kitchens and gardens. On an enchanting island in The Thames near Kingston, (opposite Hampton Court).
Which we are transforming into an Eco Conference Centre. Come visit, help, book in to run a skill sharing workshop and put it on the timetable. Network it. There will be an ongoing discussion here "how do we find SOLUTIONS to the environmentally critical situation we face?"
The situation we face along with all the species of the planet.

Monday 7pm project meeting
Tues 6-10 Music jam and open mic
Wed 8pm talking Circle
Sat eveniong 6-10pm ECO cinema
Sundays 2pm bring a picnic to share
We are up for visits each day 12-7pm for guided tours.

View our proposal to the council on the website, this was put together in 2 days, many groups and projects are contacting us all the time.We need help to update these into our proposal and get it on leaflets and the web, sent to the council and the media.

Ring kingston council and its local councillors /officers on 0208 5475757 and let them know in a reasonable way why we need community and environment centres urgently at the time.
Also to delay the eviction and negotiate reasonably. Please contact all the media and ask them to cover the serious environmental issues being discussed here and not just print sensationalism.

We will be creating a beat the bailiff pledge and phone tree for this action.
We have a lot of support locally, especially the oldsters brigade ,a 90 year old rang to express full support, and an 82 year old disabled lady said she had been passed all her life but never came here till sunday in the sun ,we told her this is your community centre for as long as we are here.
Come help hold this island for the people,we are digging in the permaculture garden and networking it to fuck for the planet.
