G20: police expecting massive protests on April 1-2

@narcho | 20.03.2009 18:27 | G20 London Summit | Climate Chaos | Globalisation | Policing | Social Struggles

The police are gearing up to expect massive protests at the G20 (Group of Twenty Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors) meetings that are happening on April 1 and 2.

Mainstream media are reporting that police are expecting large numbers of anarchists and environmentalists to turn up to disrupt proceedings in the City of London on April 1, and at the Excel conference centre in London Docklands on April 2.

In addition to the usual suspects, they expect to see old faces from the 1990s, more students than before, and more overseas activists.

After they have hyped it up and given us free publicity, let's not disappoint them!

Police provocation?

Maybe the cops are talking it up to get extra expenditure/overtime in difficult times and to try to justify any illegal and violent actions they may take against peaceful demonstrators. Maybe they are also using it as a free training exercise.

Waste of time.

The threat of people on the streets won't scare the establishment and their capitalist allies these days. This may have been seen as a serious threat in the sixties but we are in a different world today. Riots and throwing petrol bombs will not damage, or worry, the New World Order, Bilderberg types. Their agenda is going nicely and will need far more organised resistance set up on military lines.

and the first intervention of the state is....

getting people to suggest stupid things like "military" type organising.

Get a grip, the social change will have to involve millions and millions of people in the process not some drop-outs from art college loading up on guns!

read the Guide to Public Order Situations

25.03.2009 17:29

Read it at  http://www.earthfirst.org.uk/manchester/porder.htm or download it to print here:  http://www.earthfirst.org.uk/manchester/porder.pdf

It's useful for dealing with crowd situations where the police want to stop you doing what you want to do, and gives you an idea for what tactics you might want to prepare.

And any updates from stuff you observe during the G20, send them in to the email address listed in the guide (the manchester AT earthfirst.org.uk one - incorrect address listed in the PDF), or by post.
It's due for an update. Thanks.
