Antifascist groups targeted Lithuanian Embassy this morning (20.03.09) by dropping a banner and leaving posters on the entrance door.

Antifascist groups targeted Lithuanian Embassy this morning (20.03.09) by dropping a banner and leaving posters on the entrance door. This action was in response to recent upsurge of neo-fascist activities in the Baltics - on 11th of march neo-fascist march was authorised by the municipality of Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. Not only did the local authorities allow this to happen, they also prevented any counterdemonstrations from taking place.

my comment 'bet they miss the communists now' has been hidden - maybe due to the responses it invoked. However, a more serious look at what has happened to the countries that were so keen to ditch the Soviet Union is in order. The Baltic Republics in particular seem to have been most in awe of 'western democracy' but nearly all the ex soviet countries (Russia itself being more complex) have ended up in one fomr of fascism or another.
