A long term squatted warehouse in Hackney due for eviction on 3rd April invites you to get involved in the events being run there until it's demise...
It has been occupied for 4 years with the agreement of the owner only to suddenly be told the baliffs are due on 3rd April despite not having been informed or invited to attend any court preceedings....

Dear all
Social Centre in Hackney Downs is calling for support.
We have been squatting this place for 4 years. We have gone through lots and now that finally we could do something with this beautiful place we have to be evicted.
We are still going to do as much as we can.
The local community is also supporting us. The plan is to create a community centre, play centre, youth club, art centre. We are creating a coop with the neighbours.

But we need all the support from everyone who wants to help.

First I've heard

You say it's been there for 4 years.
I live in Hackney (near the Downs) and it's the first I've heard about it.

I'f I'd known I would have got involved much sooner.

But why are you appealing for peoples help now at the last furlong ?

I have lived in Hackney for many years and know and have been to all the social centres in the area, it is a bit annoying when you are now calling for people to use the space. If this was a social centre and not some randome squat, how comes this is the first we have heard about this place? Helping to organise things there is fine, but you cant now ask for help from people if this has been a 'closed' private squat for all these years and at the last moment you now open it up for use.

Until recently the building has been solely residential... recently a decision was made to open the building to the public and then the immenent news of eviction was recieved...
there are various occupied warehouses on Andre st, at which events are sporadically held...
