Police checkpoints at entrances to Hyde Park

mouse | 15.03.2009 16:40

I passed the north end of Hyde Park on a bus at around 3pm today and there were police checking everyone entering the park.

Ones of the main gates, nearest to Notting Hill and Kensington Palace, had a metal detector set up that people entering the park had to pass through. I then paid attention and at all the smaller gates along that fence there were police monitoring people entering and leaving the park.

i've also seen similar things at mile end underground station and also in the street outside kings cross in the past couple of weeks.. people being stopped and searched randomly by teams of cops and enquiring where they are going / what they are doing etc. Maybe its a test by the cops of just how much intrusion the public will take into their personal lives!.. most people i observed seemed absolutely fine with what the cops were up to and didn't seem to question it at all...

At Streatham Common train station last week, there were police on both entrances with metal detectors, plus ticket inspectors AND immigration control...

Actually went up and got searched myself, got the form and found out why they were doing it.....Opperation BLUNT 2, search for knives and other offensive weapons. with the number of stabbing in London it's nice to see the cops doing this, everyone seemed very Ok with it and they were answering anyone who enquired.

Seen it all over London, huge box of SO WHAT!! Its the buggers job, we pay our taxes for the police to stop people killing each other and untill the crystal ball is invented this seems a good way of doing it. Anyone got a better one?

And this is Tony Blair.

I'll never take the police seriously for as long as they don't arrest this scum on multiple counts of murders.
