Did ALF-infiltrant work for the farmaceutical industry?

Rick The Netherlands | 15.03.2009 10:46 | Animal Liberation

This week the (so called) ALF infiltrator Adrian Radford appeared on Dutch national television where he explained to the broadcaster NOS ( http://www.nos.nl/nosjournaal/artikelen/2009/3/14/140309_nederland_dierenactivisme.html) that the ALF now is based in the Netherlands and operates international actions from there. But, is this true? Can we believe this man? NO!

But, who is this Adrian Radford? Today Dutch media are reporting that he did not infiltrate the ALF for the police. This is confirmed by the Dutch Department of Justice. Also the man declared that some years ago some houses of Dutch animalrights activists were raided and that two activists were arrested. The Justice Department in the Netherlands however has declared that NO arrests were made.

So, whats the real, true story of this so called police infiltrator Adrian Redford? Here, in the Netherlands, we now know that he possibly worked for and got paid by the farmaceutical industry while infiltrating the ALF. Just wondering now if his real background has been checked by the British media and others....

His story on the NOS television yesterday has criminalized the whole Dutch animalrights movement. Thats a shame. Even Dutch MP's responded and are asking now for more actions against extreme animalrights activists, based on a story told by Radford.

In particular the one titled: "Adrian Radford linked to military fantasist James Shortt?"

Basically they are spy-wannabes living in a fantasy world where they invent a military past that doesn't really exist, and leech money from the government. Adrian Radford was also known as gay rights activist Ian Farmer.

Background on how the NOS spoke with Adrian Radford

16.03.2009 21:01

Today, March 16th, the Dutch broadcaster NOS published an article on why and how they made an interview with Adrian Radford. The text is in Dutch.....but hopefully there are people who can translate it into English:

To summarise:

1) He has never worked for the police.
2) He works closely with journalist Nick Fielding.
3) He was paid by a pharmaceutical lobbying group called GHC. (Global Health Council)  http://www.globalhealth.org/

Adrian Radford has his entire career in the intelligence world worked. From 1987 to 1994 he was employed by the Intelligence Corps of the British army in Northern Ireland. In 1994 he was forced to leave the army because he was homosexual. Under the name Ian Farmer began his campaign for the equal rights of gay in the military. In 2001 came an end to that campaign. Since 1994, Farmer also for private security and intelligence services and British intelligence services trainer.

A few years ago, a group of Japanese companies the target of actions of SHAC and ALF. Together they formed the lobbying group GHC that the British government demanded that they would be better protected. In 2004 hired GHC Radford to the activities of the Animal Liberation Front activity. That same year he offered his services to the British police. The infiltration of the ALF lasted from 2004 to 2007 and during that time he collected information which he passed to the police. In 2007, a coordinated police operation (Operation Achilles) places, including the Netherlands, where hundreds of house searches and arrests were made in different countries. That same year, the infiltration of Radford ended and he went back to work for various security firms.

Now the remark of the Dutch Public Prosecutor's Office. ANP reported since last Saturday on the following:

"The man who says infiltrators have been in the animal rights organization Animal Liberation Front, is known not commissioned by the British police work."

link about GHC General Health Council, who allegedly employed Radford

16.03.2009 22:56

Here is a link about the General Health Council (GHC), a pharmaceutical PR group who allegedly employed Adrian Radford / Ian Farmer to infiltrate Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty:

I just talked by Dr. Thomas Novotny, the Director of the DHHS Office of
International Health and Refugee Affairs, who is apparently going to be
heading up the US DHHS policy review of 301 actions. He said DHHS had
given a contract to the Global Health Council (GHC) to work on this
issue, and organize NGO meetings. I told him that GHC was funded by
large pharmaceutical companies and had drug company executives on its
board of directors, and that GHC had been lobbying against the campaign
for access to drugs in numerous ways. He said that Nils Daulaire, the
CEO of GHC had pushed for the contract, and he defended the DHHS
decision to use a drug company funded group by saying that DHHS was
paying for its contract, and would direct the agenda.

Dr. Novotny did not want to met directly with NGOs, except through the
things Nils will be setting up, and told me that we should work through
Dr. Stuart Nightingale, who will be helping Dr. Novotny.

There will be meetings at DHHS next week to determine more of how this
will work.

Reason for leaving army

16.03.2009 23:56

He did not leave the army he was kicked out because of a sexual assault he committed on a serving member. The other person did not want to press charges for personal reasons and so the army simply discharged him.

As for him working on intelligence work from 1987 - that's lies. In fact that's quite laughable.

Radford does not have cancer. That was one of his lies. Don't feel sorry for him he just said that to evade suspicion and garner sympathy.

more info on Adrian Radford's army past?

Question for Ex-Squaddie:

Do you have more information on Adrian Radford's army past?
Where he was posted, and when?

What name was he going by at that time?

my opinion

18.03.2009 09:38

Adrian told some people that he had HIV, but that this was a secret he didn't want common knowledge.

What he says in those interviews is a mixture of fact, fiction and pharma-propaganda. It's woven so that it's hard to differentiate the truth from the lies.

I think it's safe to say that this man is in the employ of the pharma-industry and is acting as their mouth piece. The campaign against vivisection is against global corporations and the impact on industry UK activists are having, and the growth of the movement in europe, will be a massive cause for concern for european directors. They realise that what has happened in the UK, is possible in Switzerland, Holland, France etc. What better person to talk about these so-called "extremists" than someone who claims to have infiltraited them? As things, quite literally, heat up for the animal abusers in Holland, both the pharma-industry and the British goverment will be desperate to help Dutch authorities combat it. No doubt this man will pop up in any country that witnesses dedicated, effective campaigning, to ask for new laws and legislation.

Also of interest, which nobody seems to have picked up on, is that this Adrian fellow, was working for a private company, on behalf of another private company, under the authoritites of the police, and committing criminal actions and claiming them in the name of animal rights. He admits to attacking the home of a BAA director amongst other things. Who's to say this isn't the first time the authorities have done this? Those HIV-ladden death threats that they never caught anyone for? Gladys Hammond?

Radford claimed to have never really broken the law

18.03.2009 12:49

In the interview, Adrian Radford claims that he never actually broke the law. He says he graffitied a car he owned himself and pretended it was the car of a Huntingdon Life Sciences target. And he says he went out driving with people looking for scumbags homes to trash but always talked people out of it by saying he could see cameras, etc.

Som details

18.03.2009 23:46

Not going to give full details for obvious reasons but he was attached to 14 Int Coy in NI in the early 90's working against both Republicans and Loyalists. He probably wants to keep that a little quiet for obvious reasons, the full extent of his intel work is a lot lot less than what he claims on his DVD etc. He always had a higher impression of his tradecraft than was justified.

LIES

19.11.2012 10:26

The allegation that Ian assaulted someone makes my blood boil. I can only guess the ex-squaddie writing this rubbish has an axe to grind. I was serving with him during his discharge. He decided he no longer wished to live a lie and confessed his sexuality to his chain of command. He was then discharged with the minimum of fuss but with an awful lot of unsubstantiated rumours. Whatever your beef with him do not label him a sexual predator.
