On Monday March 9th, workers at Nottingham City Council held a rally in protest against proposed job cuts.
The protest was held on Market Square on the same day as the council voted on the budget, which would subsequently be endorsed inspite of the demonstration.
Several hundred people turned out on Monday lunchtime. They were addressed by council workers who face losing their jobs, union officials, local MP Alan Simpson and film star Samantha Morton, who has lived in city council childrens' homes.
