CITY COUNCIL CUTS WILL DAMAGE YOUR COMMUNITY SERVICES

Adult day centres, home-care workers, libraries, social workers working with vulnerable adults, cleaners, youth workers, a children’s home ….. all these jobs and services and many more are at risk if Nottingham City Council gets its way.

Despite pledges from councillors that frontline services would be unaffected, and that the public would not suffer, it is clear now that there are massive cuts in front-line services as well as cuts in “backroom” staff who support front-line workers.

The Council said it didn’t want its budget problems to affect the public so chose cuts in services instead of higher council tax rises. UNISON is opposed to higher than inflation council tax rises. However, these deep cuts totalling £20 million WILL affect services we provide to the public.

UNISON is campaigning hard to get the Council to withdraw its plans, and we need your help!

The City Council squanders £15 million on private consultants and spends £½ million paying off its last 3 chief executives yet cannot afford to keep these services running. Meanwhile the Government bails out the banks to the tune of £600 billion yet will not step in to stop these cuts.
