Hundreds of Tamils gather in London to march in opposition to the ongoing conflict raging in Sri Lanka between government forces and the Tamil Tigers (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam).

The Sri Lankan government have deployed its military against the tigers in an operation which the Tamils claim is designed to eradicate the group altogether.

The protesters call for an end to the fighting and demand that the Sri Lankan government allow aid agencies in to the region to assist the civilian population which is partly displaced into refugee camps. The refugees claim they are being detained in the camps and are unable to leave.

In recent days the conflict has spread to Pakistan where gunmen attack the Sri Lankan cricket team leaving several Pakistani police officers dead in the streets.
