BBC-Partial coverage of Mass Bee Deaths

CBGnetwork | 05.03.2009 21:05 | Animal Liberation | Ecology

Todays BBC news reports include a feature on what the beeb call the "mysterious disappearance of billions of Bees" . But if they had done their homework they would find that it's not so mysterious. The go off on a tangent about "Colony Collapse Disorder" something Americans seemed to have dreamed up, but they then inform us that this term is misleading
and they are just leading us up the path.

The BBC go on a magical mystery story to the United States to find the answer to the deaths of billions of honey bees, totally ignoring the recent events in europe.

'No proof' of bee killer theory

The campaign against the use of neonicotinoids has been going on or at least two years.
The BBC article states: "But many experts now say that the term is misleading and there is no single, new ailment killing the bees".
This could be true but German Bee keepers have carried out scientific tests on thousands of dead bees the test proved that the Bees were killed by Clothianidin
The Coalition against the Dangers of Bayer, have sued the board of directors of Bayer Cropscience,

In May 2008 the Gaurdian reported :

Germany has banned a family of pesticides that are blamed for the deaths of millions of honeybees. The German Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) has suspended the registration for eight pesticide seed treatment products used in rapeseed oil and sweetcorn.

The move follows reports from German beekeepers in the Baden-Württemberg region that two thirds of their bees died earlier this month following the application of a pesticide called clothianidin.

Perhaps impartial would be a more accurate description of the BBC's report on the mass Bee deaths.
They harp on about the now fabled "Colony Collapse Disorder" which is obviously a corporate distraction.
But they don't mention the long running campaign to ban the offending pesticides, this is easily explained by
the huge profits that companies like Bayer make from selling these poisons.

What about cell phones? Everyone says they love animals and love the planet, but do you love it enough to stop using that radioactive thing in your hand?

Could bee

07.03.2009 09:08

It's true that pollution from cell phone networks is quite possibly affecting the Bees.
The scouts travel up to 5km from the hive searching for flowers, these scouts then pass on the information to the worker Bees including wind direction and other adverse conditions. It appears that the magnetic radio waves from cell phone networks causes the scouts to get lost or are unable to pass on the SAT NAV info, as you can imagine companies like Vodafone are not too keen on this kind of research. There are undoubtedly a number of causes of the Bees dying, but there is concrete scientific proof that the pesticides Imidacloprid und Clothianidin are responsible for the deaths of millions of Bees.

We covered this in 2007

and in 2008

It is great to see someones been able to identify the pesticide involved. Do you know why are organic bees weren't dying from it? Presumably they were just as exposed to it but better able to survive it due to having less other ailments.
