HLS needed this to survive

04.03.2009 20:16

Shame that an extra 50,000 shares have been bought, I guess its expected after they fell below the minimum listing standards for the New York Stock Exchange, with only 17.7% of LSR stock held by investors*. Maybe external pressure was exerted? Who knows. They also dipped to $4.50 per share and desperately needed them bought after loosing; 147,511 from Wells Fargo, 149,157 from Bank of New York Mellon and 56,880 from Turner Investment Partners Inc. See  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2009/02/422852.html

Fortunately, this 50,000 purchase won't mean a thing after another small/large investor dumps HLS, for example Barclays with nearly 300,000 shares (6x that bought recently). In my opinion they needed this as they are expecting another large shareholder (maybe AIG) to dump shortly now that attention has diverted away from BNYM. The campaign against Barclays is also picking up pace in Europe, particularly in Italy.

I smell a small amount of state/corporate resistance to hls loosing their stock listing, but its pretty futile. It will only delay their re-de-listing, never cure or secure them on the exchange.

I smell a rat

I do think there is a degree of pressure/incentives being applied on NYSE and the investors to ensure the survival of HLS. I also don't understand how a share price can close at $4.79 on one day and open at $5.76 the next. Is this usual?

Holdings down by approx. 250k

05.03.2009 17:16

There are 13 new shareholders holding 90,000 shares, and the existing shareholders have increased their holdings by 673,445 more shares.

On the flip side 16 shareholders have sold out all their shares over the last few months, totaling 381,025, on top of this many existing shareholders have got rid of over 650,000 shares.

Overall, in the last quarter LSR stock has decreased by about 250,000 shares.

Many of the shareholders hold pitiful amounts of shares, they have probably acquired these in a bundle of shares. These smaller shareholders aren't really worth focusing on when there are other holders like Barclays with nearly 400,000. Even the amount Barclays hold can be considering a small amount considering in 2007 SHAC were targeting companies with much larger holdings than this.

Any one on here suggesting companies with a handful of shares should be targeted are probably the police trying to detract activists from more effective targeting.

Huntingdon have just published their end of year accounts. Their income in the final quarter is about 19% down on the previous year. In the final quarter they made a loss of nearly $6 million. Their current liabilities still outweigh their assets Huntingdon are going to have to cut costs if they want to recover and it wouldn't surprise me to see staff cut backs this year.

Staff cuts....

...may hopefully lead to disgruntled staff prepared to be whistleblowers on some of the evil cr&p that goes in that hellhole.

News on CEO to buyout all outstanding shares

05.03.2009 19:53

Co announces that Andrew Baker, Chairman and CEO of LSR, has made a non-binding proposal to acquire all of the outstanding shares of LSR for a price of $7.50 per share pursuant to a letter dated March 3, 2009. LSR's common stock closed at $4.79 per share on March 3, 2009. The proposal letter indicates that the proposal is conditioned upon satisfactory completion of due diligence, negotiation of definitive transaction documents, receipt of the requisite financing commitments and receipt of necessary board approval. Mr. Baker indicates in the letter that he has commenced exploring potential financing sources and that while he is confident that he will be able to secure the requisite financing for the proposal, there can be no assurance of success.
