A.R Activist Asked To 'Meet' With Police!

Phil Webb | 03.03.2009 15:38 | Animal Liberation | Repression

Recently I was asked to attend a 'meeting for coffee' with a police officer going be the name of 'Kev' from Community Intelligence or C.I.U, a new department of N.E.T.C.U, based at Scotland Yard. So I have decided to write the following article to let others, that have been approached, know that they are not alone an to hopefully put there minds at rest.

Firstly let me explain what recently happened to myself; I recently have received two phone calls from the above said person asking me to 'meet for coffee' to 'discuss why people protest' and 'to pick my brains'. Basically this means 'we wanna talk to you about animal rights, who your friends are and what they're up to!'. Now considering none of my friends are involved in illegal activity I don't know what they want with me but I can assure you I told him where to go with his offer an I would like to mention that you can trust me an I'm not at all 'dodgy'! But the reason I'm writing this is to let others know, that if you've been asked to do similar things by the police, that you're not alone an no one will think less of you or will start to distrust you just because the police think you might be useful! My advice would be tell others, be honest about your experiences an help others who might one day get the same crap from the authorities. One day these people might get nasty an some people may cave in to their bully-boy tactics so it's nice to know that people have experienced the same thing an that support is available. So here's the time to anyone to go public with their experiences because at the end of the day it helps the movement and it helps us help each other an bring us closer together as a movement. Feel free to contact me if you want to discuss any details on  antichrist1988@hotmail.com it's been all over Shacwatch already so I don't mind telling you that!
So to sum up remember there's nothing to be ashamed of an share with the rest of us, it helps!

Love an Liberation

Well done Phil

Brilliant example to set to anyone else in this situation. I was asked last year when I was stopped outside my house by 2 CID from Thames Valley Police. Best thing is to walk away politely decline and let everybody know, after all they do give away some information when they ask which might help someone else. A lot of people have been asked recently to be informers.

Police harrassment and bribes

03.03.2009 18:36

I had our local ARLO (animal rights liason officer) harrass me for years.

They used to ring me to ask to call in for a chat(!) on a monthly basis. For a while I entertained myself by allowing them in my house and taking the piss out of them, they used to ask me what demos I'd been on, what I knew about certain people etc, I never told them anything they wanted to hear and led them on a few wild goose chases but it turned sinister one day when he turned up with his spotty mate offering me 'a substantial amount of money, at least enough to buy a new car!' then got a wad of cash out of his pocket and said it was 'just the start' - needless to say I told him to fuck off and take his money with him - only had a couple of phone calls since and I just hang up.

arrange to meet them

03.03.2009 18:40

anyone else this happens to - arrange to meet them, insist on seeing a warrant card, then, while you are telling them what you think of their sad little lives, get your mates to be there filming and photographing the netcu noggins and publish the pictures to the internet immediately if you can, either here or at fitwatch - this means they get shit from their bosses for a fuckup, the individual secret police are outed as such, and they are less likely to try it on again if lots of people who are approached take this action

use their own slimy tactics against them so they know how it feels, and you don't have to convince your mates that you are still trustworthy, and you lose that clammy sleazy feeling that contact with these sad fucks leaves you with

Regular occurrence

Every year on this site there are similar stories. Next time it happens to someone, ask for their full name, badge, contact details and unit while they are on the phone. If they ask why, say it is to confirm that they are not a journalist or a prank call.

Just like when PC Foster told me we were friends

03.03.2009 20:27

This is lots like last year when PC Foster approached me outside Ciba Vision when I was stood alone and told me that he would meet me whenever I wanted in plain clothes. We could meet in a hotel, a cafe and if I ever needed him he told me to call the switchboard for Hampshire Cops.

Oh shit... I forgot to call him. He probably thinks I've gone off him.

Phil, fancy double dating?

Same Old

09.03.2009 18:19

Same old stuff, when I reported we were having a demo a couple of years ago (for our own protection against the CA) I was later phoned to ask to meet with a nice lady cop who wanted to se how they could 'work' bettter with AR people. How kind! When will they realise that most AR people are well educated, inteliigent and see through this crap straight away. This is harrassment and should be reported the the Police Complaints and the loca press so the public know what happens when people exercise their democratic right to protest.
