A453 Widening consultation

Road-watcher | 24.02.2009 13:53 | Climate Chaos | Ecology

A reminder : the Highways Agency has published details of proposed widening to dual carriageway of the A453 (between M1 J24 and Clifton, basically). There are public exhibitions / consultations THIS WEEK - let's go along and comment on this road expansion.

The Highways Agency admits in it's "non-technical summary of the environmental statement" that CO2 emissions will be increased "slightly" by this scheme. Most of the road's other effects are categorised (by the roadbuilders themselves) as "neutral" or "slightly adverse" - but there will be benefits to lots of car travellers, so that's OK!

Exhibitions are in Kegworth on Wednesday 25/2/09, and Clifton on Fri 27 and Sat 28/2/09.

If you can't get to these, comments and objections can be made, in writing, to
Stephanie Sheard, C8,
5 Broadway
Broad Street,
Birmingham
B15 1BL.

You can email the highways agency for more info (including a copy of the document) on  A453Widening@highways.gsi.gov.uk, or  stephanie.sheard@highways.gsi.gov.uk.
