What would possess 14 apparently sensible people from all walks of life, to don a weird selection of animal costumes and walk eight miles along London canals? Precisely such a motley band gathered on Sunday 8th February to raise much-needed funds for Animals Count, a UK political party for people and animals. The walk attracted lots of smiles and good-humoured onlookers, and was enjoyed by all, especially the sheep dog. Together we raised over £500! Added to previous donations, we have now secured the deposit of £5,000 necessary to contest the European Parliament elections on 4th June. For the first time, animals will be represented by a UK political party dedicated to their protection. Thanks very much to Cathy whose idea this walk was and to all 13 adults and a child (the donkey) who joined us on this sunny winter day.
