BBC reports that EU Humanitarian aid chief Louis Michel has said Hamas bore "overwhelming responsibility" for what has happened in Gaza. This helps them justify the decision not to support any appeals of aid to Gaza.

A senior European Union official touring war-torn Gaza has blamed the ruling militant movement Hamas for the humanitarian crisis there.
Humanitarian aid chief Louis Michel called the destruction left by Israel's offensive "abominable", but said Hamas bore "overwhelming responsibility".
He said there would be no dialogue with with the "terrorist" movement until it gave up violence and recognised Israel.

I have never heard anything quite so ludicrous. The overwhelming responsibility belongs to Hamas, rather than the people who dropped the bombs? If someone decided to say that the overwhelming responsibility for the Holocaust lay with the resistance fighters of the Warsaw ghettos they could get locked up in some EU countries. Yet here is an EU spokesman saying very similar things, it is duplicitous in the extreme, insensetive and offensive!
He also harps on about Hamas being a terrorist organisation (rather than the democratically elected representatives of Palestine).
This is yet another Israeli apologist shill, voicing his opinions on a stage that has shown where it's loyalties lie. I really don't see why I should have to pay a TV licence to pay for this bollocks any more.

Sure this Belgium MP, Luis Michel, is a major idiot for a number of reasons... Any novice knows that if you are on a diplomatic mission, you are sure-as-hell not going to help anyone by publically cursing one of the parties you are supposedly dealing with. By the way, some EU countries do talk with HAMAS, like Sweden:
That aside, CONTRARY to the BBC's headline, Luis Michel is quoted as saying two things:
That the Israeli attack was "abominable", and that Hamas bore "overwhelming responsibility" - responsibility for WHAT is never named...
But GUESS WHICH statement made it as a BBC headline...

The headline could just have well read:
EU CALLS ISRAELI ATTACK ON GAZA ABOMINABLE.
