It's a long shot, but I don't suppose anybody happens to have the IP address of the old, koimedia hosted site? Doesn't seem to be the same as for koimedia.com. I'm kicking myself for not noting this down before the DNS switched over.

Surely that gets the IPs of the nameservers, not of the website though. And querying those nameservers for www.stoptheism.com just gets the ip for the new hostgator site. I think they're just set up to drop icmp.

Well, I'm a novice when it comes to DNS... I just assumed the nameserver would have the same IP as website... which I guess wouldn't necessarily be the case, especially with web hosting companies with thousands of domain to resolve.

But logically, I think you are right though, the fact that he has had to "restore" his site anew with the old stuff totally gone suggests he got locked out his admin account i.e. TOSed.

Don't suppose any Web caches would record IP?

I used angle brackets in the title of my post and it stripped them out rather than convert them to entities.
