No one is illegal in Moscow - action against pro-Kremlin xenophobes

Today "Molodaya Gvardiya Edinoy Rossii" (Young Guard of United Russia - one of the several, competing pro-Kremlin youth organizations) attempted to organize an action "Our money to our people". Concept was to meet a train from Central Asia 2:10 PM in Kazan railway station of Moscow with anti-migrant placates, with text such as "Work legally!", "Illegal = thief!" and "Want to work? Pay taxes!". Action was protected by a plenty of OMON riot police and own security of Young Guard.

Young Guard is one of the several organizations created since "Orange revolution" in Ukraine to prevent similar youth movements in Russia, but since then they have been in a constant search of new fields of action to justify their existence. One of the popular fields has been populist measures to ride on anti-migrant attitudes. This tactic was piloted by "Mestnye" ("Locals", youth organisation of Moscow Region governor Boris Gromov. Moscow region surrounds Moscow but does not include the city itself), which patrolled Moscow region marketplaces in search of illegal migrants - at times these "patrols" were just one step off plain pogroms.

RuMol (Young Russia), third pro-Kremlin Youth Organisation (fourth one of those active in central Russia is "Nashi", "Ours") had their try in autumn of 2008, when their leader Maksim Mischenko sought alliance with anti-migrant groups such as DPNI (Movement Against Illegal Migration) and "Russkiy Obraz" (Russian Way), a Nazi think-tank organisation with links to Blood and Honour and Combat 18 of Russia. Perhaps due to these connections some unknown people attacked office of Young Russia in night between 13th and 14th of December and trashed it with iron bars (photos of debris available in  http://wm-parovoz.livejournal.com/109438.html)

Since summer, Russian tabloids have been flaring a hysteria that migrant workers unemployed due to economic crisis will turn on raping and looting local residents. Besides pro-Kremlin organizations, also Nazi death squads have boosted their operation, and for example during first 2 weeks of 2009, there were 10 racist attacks in Moscow, including 5 murders. Most vocal action claimed by Nazis during autumn was murder of a guest worker from Tadzhikistan, his head was found from a trash container next to administration of Mozhaysk region of Moscow.

Today it was time of Young Guard to prove that they are just as racist as their counterparts Locals and Young Russia.

But their plans were disturbed by around 30 anarchists, who appeared at the Kazan railway station to confront 40 activists of Young Russia. Anarchists rolled banner "No-one is illegal", which covered placates of Young Russians. Leaflets were distributed (text in Russian available at  http://avtonom.org/index.php?nid=2186). Anarchists could continue action around 10 minutes, until 7 persons were arrested by OMON. At this point, anarchists went to throw Young Guards with eggs and pies, and 3 more
anarchists were arrested.

At 4 PM Moscow time, arrested announced that one of them was beaten up by police, who were also threatening to plant drugs on them. If you want to give a call to Kazan railway station cop shop in Moscow, and politely ask them how are the arrested, you may call to +7 (495) 266-97-79
