Hermine Mofor, Still here, Campaign prepared to fight on

"We heard from Hermine's solicitor late Friday evening that her removal order was cancelled. Her story isn't over yet though, as we are not clear exactly what is happening. However we are so relieved that she has got this reprieve for now at least. The Boaz team have been to Yarl's Wood to meet with Hermine, we passed on everyone's support. Watch this space for more details in the coming days."

Friends of Hermine, thank you all for the support, actions over the past few days.

Emergency meeting for DR Congolese/NGOs/supporters

Deportation of UK Congolese may be imminent
"Warning: Good sources close to the Kinshasa government, the Migration Directorate in particular, have learned that the latter is organising a mission to London towards the end of this month to sign the British Government's plan to repatriate more than 4,000 Congolese from England [sic. for the UK]. We ask you to raise the issue with human-rights groups, so that the project becomes a major failure for the Kinshasa government."

We call upon Congolese living in the UK, other people and organisations supporting asylum seekers and refugees to attend this emergency meeting in order to prevent the deportation of 4000+ Congolese to Kinshasa:

Fourth day of action against BMI Airlines Tuesday 20th January

From:  noborderswales@riseup.net

We once again call on all those who oppose the deportation industry and the inhumane treatment of migrants to contact BMI and let them know what you think of their profiteering from this cruel practice.

As the campaign against them gathers pace, it is clear that BMI will be beginning 2009 in a similar way to that of 2008. Last January, the airline were heavily criticised for twice attempting to deport Veneera Aliyeva and her two young children who had been living in Swansea.

Since then, BMI have been involved in numerous deportations, carrying out the UK government's dirty work. BMI have made possible the forced removal of people back to situations that they fear, in the name of profit.

Nigel Turner BMI CEO has told us previously that he is satisfied that adequate safeguards are in place for those being deported. We believe this is simply not the case. And things are set to get even worse!

From January 30th this year, deportations will no longer be automatically stopped when an application for a Judicial Review is submitted. The Home Office have also expressed their desire to further restrict and remove certain appeal rights in the proposed Immigration and Citizenship Bill.

Use the information below to contact BMI to make their phones and faxes as busy as possible on January 20th, and every month thereafter until they stop making money from this misery.
