Over 2000 people from all faiths and backgrounds united to show their support of the people of Palestine.

More than 2,000 protesters marched through the streets of Middlesbrough to show support for the people of Gaza.

The rally, which was organised by the Teesside Against the War coalition, was held outside the town hall in Middlesbroughs Central square. The rally was the end point for a march from Middlesbrough Cenotaph along Linthorpe Road to the town hall.

Linthorpe road is the main shopping street through Middlesbrough was brought to a standstill as trafic was unable to get through. The 2000+ people reclaimed the streets and took over an hour to make the 1 mile trip to the square.

It was one of the biggest protests to take place in Middlesbrough for decades. It has also been claimed that it was the first street march held in Middlesbrough ever.

Representatives from the Interpal charity, Steven Hughes MEP and Frank Cook MP were also present as guest speakers. Yvonne Ridley, who was held hostage by the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2001, also spoke.

It was a fantastic atmosphere as people from every community on Teesside came together to show our solidarity with Palestine.
