Raytheon campers... into the second month

nickleberry (repost) | 17.01.2009 11:34 | Anti-militarism | Palestine | World

On Sunday 11th January, I went and visited the Raytheon campers . Unfortunately the police have been a little more heavy-handed of late, so I couldn't stop and chat for long. A bag of food was quickly hoised to the roof, and I was off... Still, spirits seem to be high, the camp grows day-by-day (see the photos), and there is every reason to believe that the campers will win this battle, and Raytheon will be driven out...

And with events in Gaza on everyone's mind, there's even more reason to support these guys. Raytheon's weapons are currently pummelling a civilian population without mercy. More than 200 children have died in Gaza in the last fortnight; this is the logical conclusion of what Raytheon are all about...

Over in Belfast, Raytheon have been targetted again by good people angry at their appalling trade:

And while I'm at it, let me make mention of Raytheon's next-door-neighbours, Boeing. They make more of the same, and they sell plenty to the Israeli army:

So, people, please get up to the camp and show your support for this action. The campers are always there so visit any time is good. Otherwise there are weekly demos on Thursday (3pm) and Saturday (1pm) with transport leaving from the top of Picton Street on 2:30pm, Thursday or 12:30pm, Saturday. Or, even better, take the nice half-hour walk through Eastville park or the 984 bus from the Broadmead.

Please see the video below for interviews with the guys on the roof. And if you want more information about how to support the guys, then leave a comment at the end...
