Hamas: Revenge or ideology?
Revenge or ideology? | 06.01.2009 16:47 | Palestine
As is widely reported, the Hamas leadership has called for revenge attacks on Jews, not only in Israel, but worldwide. Jewish faith groups in the UK have stepped up their security.
London and Manchester are particularly affected by an increase in anti-Semitic incidents in the past week. The Times writes that there was a failed arson attack on Brondesbury Park Synagogue in northwest London on Saturday. It is unclear whether that occured during the 50,000 strong anti-Israel march in London, or after there were clashes between protestors and riot police outside the Israeli embassy.
The Jewish community in North London has also increased security, particularly around schools and public buildings.
A national demonstration against Israeli attacks on Hamas targets that have so far claimed more than 600 lives, including civilians, is planned for next Saturday in London. Let's hope that the British Left can have a positive impact at this rally, opposing Israel's war crimes as well as Hamas's fanaticism.
So far, there has been little sign of this. Some left-wing bloggers claim that human rights activist Peter Tatchell was the 'only' (prominent) participant in last Saturday's demonstration to denounce both Israel's and Hamas's actions (on a placard). At the same time, support for Hamas and Hezbollah went unchallenged.
George Galloway, one of the protest-leaders, is reported to have said that the situation in Gaza is the same as it was in the Warsaw Ghetto. Between 400,000 and 500,000 Jews were killed in the latter.

Missing sources - Widely reported?

'widely reported' where? I can see "Mark Gardner of the Jewish charity, the Community Security Trust (CST)" saying it all over the news. But I can't actually find a real source for the statement. Sure Hamas could do something so stupid and certain you wouldn't be lying. So could you supply some links to the original call?

Mainstream media propaganda

Who posted this fascist item???
Please don't allow such mainstream media propaganda to creep in!
This is the plain truth, for those who care to take notice:
"For its part, Hamas has been conciliatory and sought peace. It's willing to recognize Israel in return for a sovereign Palestinian state inside pre-1967 borders - just 22% of it original homeland. In 2008 and earlier, it agreed to unilateral ceasefires in spite of repeated Israeli violations and Gaza in duress under siege. It responds only in self-defense when attacked as international law allows, yet Washington, Israel, and the West call it "terrorism."
The dominant media also in their customary role - guarding the powerful and suppressing uncomfortable truths in lieu of full and accurate reporting. They're in high gear over Gaza. They vilify Hamas, stay silent about Gazan suffering, are mute on the crippling blockade, its devastating human toll, and practically champion Israel's call for "all-out war" and the slaughter of defenseless men, women, children and infants."

not the truth

Sorry but thats not true. Hamas had got plenty of history to show they are a bunch of nutters intent on the destruction of Israel. Remember them pretending to be best mates whilst doing all the kidnappings? Thats why Israel shut the doors. Because of all the the attacks.

The neocon info-war starts off against the British left
06.01.2009 18:21
Given the traditionally pro-Israel bias of the German media almost all dailies in Germany today ran the headline "Hamas announces world wide terror attacks", ie terror not only directed against Jewish people.
I´ve monitored the BBC´s world-service the past weeks and days intensively. No such story as either Hamas announcing attacks world wide or specifically against Jews world wide were broadcast on this undoubtfull impartial voice, the BBC world service.
Given the bad press Israel is receiving over it´s increasing killling of civilians in Gaza I regard this information as deliberal desinfromation, it´s aim undoubtfully being ro rally support for Israel.
This is part of a world-wide infowar in which - regrettably - the majority of Jews internationally allowed the neocons and the Bush-Olmert/ US-Israeli war mongerers to use them as their mouthpiece.
Significantly after the succesfull anti-war rallies of the past days this infowar is being directed against the left and the anti-war movement in Britian and France.
Now that the desinformers have succefully shut up IMC France and blackmailed the German left into not voicing any support against the Israeli attack they´re now turning their guns against the British peace movement, their prime target being - of course - George Galloway.
As anyone can check out on youtube Galloway used strong words against Israel last week on several occasions in front of the Israeli embassy. Criticism which is undoubtfully justified and neccessary.
Whether Gallloway compared Gaza to the Warsaw ghetto I cannot recall.
As a matter of fact the number of Ghetto inhabitants killed by the Nazis is not an argument to be used against the equation of the holocaust with the current onslaught on Gaza, or for instance the US massacre in Fulludja (Iraq) or the massacre of Sabra and Shatila back in the eighties.
The real issue behind the attack on George Galloway is that the Israeli government and it´s neocon cronies all over the world have been attempting for decades to silence any criticism of it´s continuing crusade against the Palestinian people.
