Invitation: Future of Wind Energy – international report to be
released

On January 9 2009, Energy Watch Group will launch a pioneering new study, titled ‘Wind Power in Context – a clean revolution in the energy sector’. To mark this announcement, we would like to invite you to a media conference with authors of the report on 09 January at the Foreign Press Association.

Energy Watch Group is a prestigious international network of scientists and
parliamentarians. The group conducts ground-breaking research into the shortage of conventional energy resources; develops scenarios for alternatives; and devises strategies for long-term global energy security.
The Wind Power in Context report rejects the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) conclusion that the outlook for wind power is stagnation, not growth. Across four different energy-use scenarios, Energy Watch Group has shown that strong wind power growth is consistent. A thorough analysis of sixteen key growth drivers – including wind’s cost free nature and its stable life cycle – clearly point to the technology’s ongoing sustainability.

The programme for the media conference is as follows.
Welcome and Introduction:
Hans-Josef Fell
Member of German Parliament Energy and Environment Committee and President of Energy Watch Group

Results of the ‘Wind Power in Context Study’:
Dr. Rudolf Rechsteiner
Economist, energy advisor, author and Member of the Swiss Parliament Energy and Environment Committee
