Illegal IPO Served in Manchester
Manchester Squatters | 05.01.2009 21:31 | Free Spaces | World
The house we are squatting at 61 Hathersage Rd, Rusholme, Manchester, was served today with an interim possesion order which states we must leave by 5.00 pm tomorrow.
(Tuesday 6th January)
The notice says that we did not attend court, however we were not notified of a court date and therefore the notice is illegal.
Still the landlord and his heavies will undoubtabley turn up tomorrow to enforce the eviction.
So if you can, please get down and help us show the capitalist bastards we are not scared of them, that we are organised and that we will not leave without a proper legal eviction.
It is likely we will need to barricade the house and resist violent physical eviction, so bring bandana and wear your best boots.
The fun starts at 12.
See you there!
contact us on 07895744433
(The squat is on hathersage rd, off oxford road. going towards Fallowfield turn left off oxford road at whitworth park, just before the curry mile. follow the road for 5 minutes and the house is on the right, there are two shopping trolleys parked outside.

On the morning of the 6/01/08 we phoned the courtt and were advised that photographic evidence of the application being served WAS provided. Its pretty likely someone passing on the street felt abit nosey so took it away.
So we decided the best bet was to get the stuff out of the house and wait around till 5, at 5 we waited at the front door for the landlord to arrive, he came, then the police followed, they talked to us for awhile and we explained our situation (nowhere to go tonight, cold, homeless, not being notified etc etc) he seemed quite sympathetic and then the Inspector of the area came down and was an arsehole. We told them there where 7 people still inside the building and watched on as two police vans and a TAU unit arrived and smashed the door down. At this point we decided it was time to move on...
We are currently in an old old peoples homes, its much nicer than where we were.

The problem with an IPO is that its a criminal offence to disobey it, unlike the situation with a usual court possession order where the bailiffs will just physically chuck you out without arresting you.
Anyway, good luck with the resistance tomorrow. I'd come and support but I'm in the wrong city.
