BBC1 ITN Camden Council Flu Pandemic Game - available from Camden Council

Camden Council have issued warnings and advice on their website about Bird flu and what to do in a Pandemic. They now have an online Flu Pandemic Game. There are plans to build the W'orld's largest ever high level virus containment facility and animal testing lab in Camden on a council house estate alongside St Pancras International behind the British Library. Please oppose planning pemission.



You can Google search Canden Bird Flu or Camden Pandemic or you can check out the safer policing section on Camden Council website for advice on Bird Flu and what to do in a Pandemic. Camden Council have also created an online Flu
Pandemic Game which anyone can play.

The proposed lab for Camden could be level 3 facilty which means that it could contain anthrax and Bird Flu. This is a very real threat so close to the Channel Tunnel. Foot and mouth disease was leaked into the water supply from government facility Pirbright in Surrey. Such a leak would be catastrophic so close to major transport hubs in abuilt up residential and business district.

The lab does not yet have planning permission, please oppose by contacting Camden Council...{properly, not via the game...}

There are evry real plans to build a deadly virus containment falcity in Camden on a Camden council house estate, alongside St Pancras International behind the British Library.
The threat of virus leak is very real.

created a Pandemic Flu Game and have also issued warnings and advice about what to do in a Pandemic situation, including Pandemic fears for the elderly and Pandemic fears and your baby.
There is also advice on Pandemic and your Business.

The advice from Camden Council includes :

What to do ina Pandemic. Do you have enough supplys ie tins of food, water, staff ,[ in case of the staff who are no longer able to get to work presumably beacuse they have died] and other Pandemic advice.

Why have they done this?

This is in response to fears over the proposed Camden Super Pandemic Virus Lab which is due to be built on a Camden council house estate alongside St Pncars International behind the British Library. This has been opposed by MPs, Councillors, residents and businesses and has been dubbed the 28 Days Later Lab. The lab will test on animals.

Camden council are obviously panicking over the pandemic fears postings around the proposed "Super Virus Lab" planned for Camden.
This is very real and has been criticised at government level over MRC funding.

The backers behind the reviled lab idea are : MRC, UCL, Wellcome Trust, CRUK,

The lab is no joke and should be opposed.

If this happens you will have far more to worry about than our "little campaign" and yes you are right, it is a "little campaign"....for now.
You're bothered enough about our "little campaign" to reply more than once... ; ) x

The more publicity about this the better. If we have to use jokes about 28 Days Later etc to do so then then we will. However the threat of virus leak from the lab is very real and very worrying.

As you can see we have used a spoof [ish] posting in a jokey way to get our point across and that's fine and understood by most people unless you are a po faced so and so like yourself "Joker The Humourless".

Personally i think that the idea of putting something like this in central London so close to the Channel Tunnel is a joke in itself.

Note : To the people who come up to animal rights activists on stalls and shout at us about what we "did" in the film 28 Days Later...it is just a film, there's no such thing as zombies and it hasn't actually happened the way it's portrayed in the film...yet. However there was a very real leak from a lab recently, Pirbright in Surrey where Foot and Mouth disease was leaked causing destruction and heartbreak across the UK. I don't agree with farming animals but it should be pointed out that the British countryside was devastated by this and farming families and communities across Britain were destroyed. Such a leak in an urban area would be worse,a disease that could be transmitted to humans, would catastrophic.

that the lab might get planning permission. This will be a combined animal rights / people's campaign. At the moment we are not spending time, money etc on something that might not even go ahead.
The lab is a ridiculous idea and is for the moment being treated as the joke that it is.

Search optimisation technique - swamping by Dept of Health

A decision was made by the government's Department of Health to swamp the internet with pandemic warnings following the embarrassment caused by this lab. Thanks to campigners who are aginst the lab every time someone google searched the words "pandemic" or "council" they found articles on the Camden lab. So the techies at the dept of health came up with the bright idea of issuing pandemic warnings and "how to cope" ....and as a matter of fact have made things worse...or better depending on your point of view.
