People came from all across the west country to chant, hold silences and lay flowers for the victims of the Israeli air assaults. More vigils are planned across the region in the coming weeks.

Exeter-
How can we respond in ways which are likely to help the Palestinians? Give us your suggestions at our next monthly meeting (7 pm Tuesday 6th January at the Global Centre, St David’s Hill) and, particularly, at Exeter PSC’s annual planning meeting, 10.30 am Saturday 31st January at St Sidwell’s Church Centre

Totnes-
In Totnes tomorrow night, 5th Jan and every night this week people will be meeting at 5pm on the Plains and walking up to the civic square by 5.30pm to hold a vigil in solidarity with the people of Gaza. From there we will walk silently to Keviccs bridge to hang a banner to try to bring to peoples attention what is happening in Gaza and to try to put the message out there that the world is watching what Israel is doing.

If you are able to, wear black and bring flowers and lanterns to carry and any placards/signs you have time to make. We are looking to film peoples messages of support for Gaza to put on You Tube. We would especially like messages from children and young people as 50 % of the population of Gaza is 18 or under.

- promote civil disobedience not protest
- be proactive, nonviolvent and organise along anarchist lines
- use small groups to diversify responses - these can be complimentary
- have fun
- promote sponsoring planting olive trees in Palestine - these can be a way of promoting civil disobedience
- feed the poor in Exeter and Totnes (i lived near there)
- network and resist ugly violence wherever its found
- think for yourself
- you do not need my approval for anything
- be impish

I do not approve of violence or abuses of human rights
be impish
