Mass riot outside Israeli embassy, Kensington High street!

Free Palestine | 03.01.2009 16:04

Get down to Kensington High Street now! There is a mass riot involving thousands of people going on right now and the Israeli embassy is very close to being stormed. This is an event not to be missed!

The Israeli embassy is very close to being stormed right now as I type as just down the street in Kensington High Street thousands of Palestinian supportters are battling riot police and attempting to storm the Israel embassy. The police are only just about managing to hold out but will soon surely be overwhlemed by the raging crowds of angry people. Get down there right now if you can!

Portents of gloom

03.01.2009 17:02

Sign of worse to come? A ball always starts rolling somewhere.

The world's folk are getting very depressed, more and more agitated every minute. Even meek and mild folk become depressed, restless, frantic, agitated, frustrated, full of despair, of deprivation, etc., all maybe culminating in their wrath being vented. Real gloomy!

Report rather old no?

03.01.2009 17:36

The riot report is a bit old now:
"From Times Online December 28, 2008 Violent protests at Israeli Embassy in London"

In case you haven't been keeping up, it's already 2009!

Anyone else have anything more useful to aid those who may wish to show their solidarity?

NN

out of date

03.01.2009 17:37

that times articles was for December 28th!

What I have heard is that around 1,000 people led a breakaway march and were stopped by the TSG.

So the main post is probably bollocks then?
Shame, would have been great!

not bollocks

03.01.2009 18:14

After the rally, a smaller group of about 2,000 protesters marched on the Israeli Embassy in west London, and some youths scuffled with police and hurled objects at officers in riot gear. Police said there were no initial reports of arrests.

Israeli artillery start shelling Gaza// 7000 in Berlin - but left boycott

03.01.2009 18:14

Just googled this news bits:
 http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L3519407.htm

Been to the demo in Berlin. Impressive raging mass of mostly young turks and arabs who could hardly by held back by stewarts. Was a tense and nervous athmosphere.

But the German left, especially the radical left (antifa and anarchists) VIRTUALLY boycotted the march. ONE! "Black & Red" Flag, 5 communsist/ trots flags, 10 flags of the left party; and with almost each of them holding one it was no more than a block of 20 ethnic German and left wing supporters.

CAN U BELIEVE IT?

bob

@ bob

03.01.2009 18:26

Unfortunately Bob I can believe that about the demo in Berlin. The problem in Germany is that a small milieu of former leftists have developed far-right pro-Israeli positions which denounce the Palestinian resistance as antisemitic and fascist. They are a small minority in the German leftist milieu but they have succeeded in confusing and demoralising a much larger number of people. Hence the low turnout.

German anarchists & co.

03.01.2009 18:31

Bob, I do believe your report about anarchists boycotting the demo, because I lived 7 years in germany and i know the germans still cannot get their facts right, when it comes to israel/palestine.
They are more active when it comes to animal rights, but that's the fact about all western leftists. Arabs make fun out of it, and rightly so.

Anna, Arabs make fun out of westerns because they protest about treatment of animals!?
Well they can fuk off then. They seem to have great joy in sacrificing animals in the name of a make-belief god. Can i make fun of that?

IDF start ground offensive

03.01.2009 18:58

Unfortunately all of the worlds ills cannot be tackled at once and animal rights in my opinion should be quite far down on the agenda. To judge a culture as barbaric because of traditions passed down over centuries is just stupid, remember we only just banned fox hunting ourselves.

Israeli public opinion

03.01.2009 19:25

I read a story in the Independent today and a poll had shown that over 70% of Israeli's were in support of the offensive. I have always been disgusted by the actions of Israel as a state but have generally felt that the general population have been victims of circumstance, sold hard line policies under false pretences, been influenced and indoctrinated by the media and state aparatus.

Are they victims as well or simply serving their own interests?

> Are they victims as well or simply serving their own interests?

Its depends. Afterall people's thoughts are just a combination of chemical reactions and electrical impulses in the brain. If you don't believe in God and that people have souls, then what a person does is not truely free will, it is just chemical molecules following laws of physics. If you do believe in God, who is all knowing and powerful, then again people don't have free will because God has created and knows everything in advance.

So in essence, you can't blame Israel.

"the fact about all western leftists"

04.01.2009 00:36

Anna, are you deliberately trying to offend many people who would support the Gazans?

Cos any International Solidarity Movement would accentuate what we hold in common, not what divides us. I know vegan Arabs who would be deeply offended by your generalisation.

I can't imagine there are too many Gazans who are worried about global warming tonight - so can the Greens also be considered unwelcome at the Gaza demos?

If you spoke out of anger then get a fucking grip and direct it properly instead of sabotaging the cause you claim to support.

Daniel

we support Gazans even though we think their religion is bullshit

04.01.2009 02:12

I am guessing most of us here think that all religions: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, are just dogmatic, irrational and brainwashing bullshit. I would quite happily piss on the Bible, the Torah or the Koran. But we still support the Gazans (is that the right word?) against the Israeli bombardment just because it is the right thing to do; to support the oppressed. I am vegan and will still support them even if they are meat eaters or whatever, that is a separate issue, just as religion is too.

Centre of empire

04.01.2009 03:39

"But we still support the Gazans (is that the right word?)"

Apolopgies if it isn't - and I doubt it is in Arabaic. I meant a resident of Gaza. I doubt any Glaswegian or Edinburgher or Dundonian would feel happy with the wrong term but I also doubt they would complain if we all supported them when they were being bombarded against longstanding international law. It has been a war-crime to indiscrimatorily bombabrd civilians for more than two centuries, which shows what a fake the law is.

I asked a Palestinian who had survived Shabrilla once what she thought of Arab/Muslim hostility to Palestinaians and she replied plaintavely, 'Palestinians are are always the victims'. Over all, she is obviously correct.

You can see how biased our media is tonight, I could prove that tommorow. Now is a time for actions not recriminations. There are posters here who are absent because they are in Gaza, in ambulances, who are unlikely to live through this. We in the UK should be taking the same risks because this is the centre of empire and we can have more effect here. One dead Briton is worth 1000 dead Gazans to our media.

Daniel
