Small protests in germany

29.12.2008 21:31

there were small protests in some German towns and Arab citizens in Berlin took to the streets. Unfortunately it is very difficult for the left to communicate and organise, since we´re not aloud ot post announcements on IMC-Germany.

Good luck, and how about some vids and pics?

Germany announcements

29.12.2008 21:59

Indymedia DE doesn't allow any announcements of events on it as far as I'm aware? Yet the left is very successful in organising there. The autonomous left even seem to do it really well without announcing anything much on any websites. Perhaps you would be better sorting out your organisation, and your politics (historical baggage included) before blaming it on Indymedia?

Well Done All

29.12.2008 22:48

It's been good to read about the demo today. I just wanted to say well done and keep up the good work to all that were there. I couldn't make it but am doing what i can from where i am. Good to hear the police had a hard time they so often ask for it and from personal experience i know them for the bullying scum they often are -and that the anger came across - perhaps details of the arrested and any support needed could be posted e.g. one can write letters of encouragement and solidarity - so well done to the soldiers of humanity

You were on all the news channels

29.12.2008 23:20

Flicking through the news channels on Sky between 5-6pm British time, I saw this demo on:
Sky
BBC
CNN
Fox News

Not bad! The reporters made the protest out to be a lot more violent than the pictures suggested, but on the whole coverage was good.

Even on the rabidly pro-Israel Fox News you seemed to get the point across that you were out protesting against oppression by Israel; that's despite too misrepresentations from Fox: 1. that all the protesters were Palestinians (may have been a slip of the tongue), 2. that you were from Islamist groups (no chance that this one was a slip of the tongue). The second one shocked me, but at least this protest meant that Fox viewers perhaps have some awareness that Palestinians are suffering - nothing else in their coverage today would suggest that.

Keep it up this week - hopefully I'll be joining you on Saturday.

May God help everyone in Gaza.

Matt

- "left baggage"

@- "Perhaps you would be better sorting out your organisation, and your politics (historical baggage included)"

Which baggage and organisation would that be?

slight concern

30.12.2008 21:21

Bull, you seem to be very happy with the overt use of violence against the police.

So wheres that going to lead?

Will they go "oh dear a firework, I must run away and hide against these overwhelming odds"?
Possibly next time they will just use the TSG, in force. Violence breeds violence.

Ghandi managed to gain a whole country on the strength of peacefull protest, Chinese revolution killed millions in a whilewind of pointless violence that served no one but a few at the top.

If the cops think that they are going to come under attack from expolsives they will react poorly.

If you love violence so much and want to take some direct action, try following the ideals of those who confronted facism in the Spanish civil war and go to the country itself and get on the front lines.

Harry Purvis

Because Ghandi was a pillar of success for the far left.

31.12.2008 12:25

Why on earth would any one from the far left honour a bourgeois upholder like Ghandi is beggar's belief. This is the same man that advocated direct democracy (whilst believed in the Swaraj, a form of anarchism much like the paradoxical individualist anarchism), yet tried to go down the reformist transitory route. He, who was given India, rather than procured it for himself, as the state was ungovernable and more grief than it was worth, nonetheless forsaking those in current day Pakistan. All of which has culminated in a struggle stricken area that is rife with castism and class inequality.

Much like in all other independence bids, the foreign ruling class would leave, only for the native ruling class to take their place.

But his worst crime of all, the lie he's perpetuated that our voices are our greatest weapons, not our armaments. Reforms will only take you so far, but for complete freedom, blood will inevitably be shed before we can rid ourselves of our masters. Do you really believe the state would ever concede its power?

what?

31.12.2008 13:22

I love the hypocrisy. Lots of projectiles thrown, fireworks and other stuff against the police - all applauded. However, if the police so much as lift a finger, its all "Thats not fair, using violent police brutality"

Reminds me of an article i read about the Irish police having to warm the water up in their water canons because rioters were complaining it was giving them a severe chill and could give them hypothermia.

Most violence comes from the "forces of order".

31.12.2008 23:44

I don't know about the particular demo being reported on here, and I haven't been in London in many years, but I do know that most violence at demos comes from the police, and that the ruling-class media does its best to hide that fact, even when its own reporters are the victims of police violence.

On the other hand, when violent right-wing demonstrators in Venezuela (or in Serbia under Milosevich) are restrained by the police, the same media will talk about "police violence against peaceful demonstrators".

i'll show support. Just in my own way.
I want show support with you though because you sound like a mindless thug telling "people like me in this country" what i should be doing with myself. I'll do what i want to do. Im sick of people like you telling me what i can and can't do. Always trying to threaten or cajole people into you own way of thinking. I dont want to riot i want to clean up your mess so we dont live like the abjabs with nothing but destruction
