I remember seeing the gases next to Derby Raynewsway on a demo 10yrs ago.Watching some holywood movies you'd think some nihilistic "anarchist"would have blown them up by now. No it seems to be the anarchists who are campaigning as usual to stop any serious danger to the public, risking their necks & some of them are even on meagre social benefits, "thats the real crime apparently".
Personally I would presume the most dangerous time is when the nuclear waste is being transported from Raynesway to other factories or the military that would be most dangerous.
What sort of safety vehicle are they using? do they have adequate backup & escorts. Even if they do what are the risks of all this nuclear material being shipped around the country?
Hopefully Emergency services & police will be investigating procedures around Raynesway again, for picture of the effects of enriched uranuim shells, depleted uranium shells as the military calls them check this link on depleted uranium, this is probably one of the safest forms of radioactive materail being produced at the RollyRocye facility, the residents in Derby&Nottingham nearby have no say over.

"Because DU has a half-life of 4.5 billion years, the Middle East will, for all practical purposes, be radioactive forever.

The two U.S. wars in Iraq "have been nuclear wars because they have scattered nuclear material across the land, and people, particularly children, are condemned to die of malignancy and congenital disease essentially for eternity," said anti-nuclear activist Helen Caldicott.

Since the first Gulf War, the rate of birth defects and childhood cancer in Iraq has increased by seven times. More than 35 percent (251,000) of U.S. Gulf War veterans are dead or on permanent medical disability, compared with only 400 who were killed during the conflict."

"American physicist Doug Rokke, who served in Iraq in 1991 cleaning the country of depleted uranium, said: "For each and every vehicle that is struck by a single uranium munition you have to take that entire vehicle, and physically remove it. Then you have to clean up all the uranium penetration that is left around that vehicle. Then you have to take a bulldozer, and go out to at least 100 metres (yards) and scrape down at least 10 centimetres (four inches) and remove all of that dirt in order to make that area safe again. If that is not done, he said, the contamination will last 4.5 billion years.”

4.5billion years half life - very safe. The luminous dials on our wristwatches is probably doing more harm to us than DU.
