wrexham asylum snatched update
Davey | 17.12.2008 12:02 | Migration | Birmingham | South Coast
Dear Friends
Today has been one of the saddest days of my life. It is with regret
that I have to tell you that [hidden name] and their 3
children were arrested at their home at 6 a.m. and taken to Tinsley
House Detention Centre at Gatwick Airport.
I am in constant contact with [hideen] and their three children
aged 13, 10 and 6. They are all very worried and [hidden]especially is
taking this really badly, that I fear for her health and well being.
The children are crying as they did not have time to say goodbye to
any of their friends and school mates and teachers. they have had to
leave most of their possession behind as well.
As some of you might know this family have been living in Wrexham for
over 2 years and have become well known and well liked in the
community here. Both [hidden] have been volunteers with the
Red Cross, Caia Park Environmental Group, Maelor Voluntary Services
(hospital) and other community groups in Wrecsam. Farid is the Service
User Representative on The Wrexham Refugee and Asylum Seeker Support
Group and both help at The Salvation Army when I need them too.
They have both attended Yale College and gained qualifications.
In this case [hidden] (the woman) is the asylum seeker due to her
responsible position as Environmental Officer for the Government in
Algeria, where due to her opposition to corrupt officials and others
pulling down dwellings belonging to the poorer people to be replaced
by high rise and other buildings. This case is too complex to explain
but [hidden] was forced to leave Algeria due to threats made to her and
her family. [hidden name] car was forced off the road and she ended up in
hospital. She had to move house and go into hiding with her family.
Because of this she escaped and came to the UK seeking asylum.
Unfortunately her case was refused although new evidence was presented
to the Immigration Court, but it was disregarded by the court.
The neighbours of the [hidden] family who live on the Caia Park
Estate, staff and volunteers of the Red Cross, WRASSG, Yale College,
Rhosnesni High School, Hafod y Wern County Primary school, The
Salvation Army, Family Friends 5-11's and many others are devasted by
the news of their forced removal, and they keep telephoning me to ask
if there is anything that they can do.
Please is there anyone who can help this lovely family? I have
contacted the office of Mr Ian Lucas MP and I have been assured by his
staff that they are trying to deal with this case.
Time is getting on and it looks likely that deportation will take
place very soon. I would welcome any help or advice.
Thank you very much for reading this message.
Please pray for this family.
God bless you
