IMC Germany censors Greek teargas-story

indymedia Deutschland censors:"German and Israeli tear gas supplies for Greece"

Greek coppers are apparently running out of teargas. At the time Greek PM Karamanlis assured other EC-Leaders that "Greece is safe" some British media, Reuters and several Swiss IMC, Israel and UK IMC spread the story that Greek police is asking desperately for German and Israeli tear gas supplies.

This information has been suppressed for umpteens times by indymedia Deutschland!!!

Why does German IMC try to supress the circulation of a story which is slowly but steadily making it´s way round the world media?

Anyone have any idea how much tear gas police forces in europe have in reserve? who are the major manufacterers of this stuff anyway?

For the German anarcho / political scene i dont expect anything less. The German activist community is infiltrated by anti-deutch people a group which claims to be left wing but supports Israel in everything it does going s far as having benefit punk shows for the fucking IDF.

I´m a german indymedia user and I myself posted this teargas report on some IMCs. I did not try to post it on IMC germany, because I knew they would censor this report. I am not frustrated about that, I can understand that in Germany Israel is a topic to treat more sensible than in other countries. But, if something is true, I think it should be allowed to post.

I know the arguments IMC germany would say to not post this report: "this report structurally makes you believe there are similiarities between germany and israel. this, just to make people think germany due to its fascist history and israel due to its imperialist behaviour towards the palestinians could be somehow (not outspoken) comparable. therefore this report has antisemitic tendencies and will not be posted."

whats your opinion on that? I would be really interested in it.

Well, the info you discribe as "wrong" exactly states what I said: IMC Germany has since Friday repeatedly censored any attempt to post the info. Until an hour ago indy.de had to succumb, coze many have posted the info over and over again and again on german IMC, AND two times on indy UK.

The behaviour of IMC Germany in these matters has been ridiculous for years.

We´ve lost precious time researching:

is the press release of several newspapers based on true facts?

which companies produce tear gas?

1/2 hour ago posted some additions to other articles in them stating that Greece coppers wanting Israeli and German gas-granades is not due to a grand conspiracy but to a technical explanation ie. Israeli and German capsules fit greek tear gas grenade launchers, and that both countries are known for stocking vast supplies, and that Israel is an expert on crowd control products..

They are persistent censors

The anonymous, unaccountable group of people who "own" German IndyMedia are persistent censors of a lot of things. They get abusive if you criticise them with statements like "fuck the shut up". Their right hand doesn't know what their left is doing - what one "Moderator" will censor, another will allow to be posted. They have moved worlds away from the original IMC philosophy of being a platform to fight injustice and government bullying. Their one and only and all-pervading bee in their bonnet, their obsession, is "Antifa", short for anti-fascism, in Germany. They will give space to the tiniest fart about that. A southwest German group has broken away forming their own IMC, severely criticising the existing one, but I've not seen them in action. I strongly disapprove of Indymedia Deutchland's alleged suppression of this story. That a group who support the fascist JNF are involved is a more serious allegation. If a fascist group have infiltrated an IMC then that IMC should not be part of the Indymedia project. The idea that these issues are different in Germany is false. Fascism exists in many / all countries. The Holocaust was organised by the German state but was supported by fascist groups in many countries. Zionist groups including the German Zionist Federation supported the Nazis!
