“Don’t shoot students – don’t shoot children” , “with special police (MAT) cannot reform the educational system” , “caps – pigs – murderers” , .. " this is for Alexis" ... they were shouting ..

Keep posting from Greece

10.12.2008 11:24

I could have added this comment to dozens of other posts in the last few weeks. This is where we really find out what's happening and the contrast with the sieved crap in the MSM is stark. Never mind the bitching and tedious obsessions on here from time to time, THIS IS IM AT ITS BEST, linking people up and communicating first-hand news from where the struggle is sharpest.

Comrades in Greece -do keep posting. Don't worry if the English is a bit skewiffy sometimes, we can usually work it out.

Solidarity to everyone in the streets.

Let's show solidarity in OUR streets, too.

Keep moving, keep thinking!

update

In Thessaloniki school pupils, students and workers all took to the street. It was horrific- property got smashed, chocolate was stolen, streets got shut down and bins set ablaze. And worst of all the police, who after all are just trying to do their jobs, got pelted with rocks. The poor police (in full riot gear) were forced to run away from school children. I personally am glad i live in england, where that sort of thing would never happen. I can only pray that someone talks some sense into the greeks soon and advises them to start a petition or even to write to their mps. Or to just forget about this sillyness and succumb to apathy instead. That sounds much more sensible.
