Shop Stewards sacked by IMI Scott in Manchester

SAVE JOBS AT IMI SCOTT!
REINSTATE SACKED SHOP STEWARD & WORKERS!

Both Unite shop stewards working for IMI Scott in Manchester have been made redundant in a management-engineered process designed to break the union. We are appealing to you to support our campaign for reinstatement, and oppose this attack on workers.

* Reinstate the sacked workers.
* Defend trade union rights.
* NO to compulsory redundancies.
* NO to victimisation of trade union activists.

As soon as the announcement was made that redundancies were being proposed (and before they knew they were to be selected), the union team approached management with a number of counterproposals aimed at saving the jobs of those under threat.

When the selection procedure was announced the union team began consultations with management and put forward a number of alternative criteria aimed at making a fairer more objective selection in the event that redundancy could not be averted. Again these were dismissed out of hand with only the most minor changes being accepted, (changes which management knew could not affect the outcome).

This is just the latest in a long list of barriers IMI have put up to try to prevent the union from being an effective force in the workplace. Clearly IMI Scott is determined to oppose effective trade unionism.

Shop steward Trevor Prior has launched the campaign and is appealing for messages of support and protest. Please support this campaign – an injury to one is an injury to all!
