Hmmm...this is starting to look more like an opportunity to kick a few windows in rather than genuine concern over the original circumstances.

Typical expected comment from a brit who would call himself GI joe, either a troll or a swp fantasist who has no understanding Greece and its political history.

split between trade unions and insurgents?/@gar

09.12.2008 11:14

1. I think the BBC is fair in that sense that it says the protesters movement is broader than just the anarchists. ie. students, schools ; and that there is wide resentment over the economic situation.

I PREFER TO CALL THIS SITUATION A INSURGENCY

2. German private TV is just making propaganda: "The autonomes, hooligans"...
- media want to discredit the INSURGENTS.

Because the ruling elites fear that people in germany (who´s anger over "reforms" ie. social cuts and a dismantling of the social state has been channeled into the founding a new left party, which has preoccupoied many activists from the 2003-2005 Mass-Protests) MIGHT COPY CAT GREECE because the people are fear stricken of the outcome of the financial crisis.

Unemployment, it was announced by the government, will move up from 7Million to over 10 next year due to tghe economic downturn.

3. @gar: is it true that the trade unions have CALLED OFF the mass demonstration on Wednesday.

4. @gar.please comment on my other question in your previous posting regarding background of migrant

Of course the riots aren't just a reaction to the shooting alone. It's seen as part of a wider social and political context, and rightly so. As a recent communique said:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[...]
In such a reality the murder of the 15yr old alexandros was the last straw that that overfilled our rage.
But rage isn't just an emotion. It is a fight for social justice. A justice that is evident now that as long as it's absent from the social reality there will be no social peace, because with such submission and such social inequality only graveyards can claim social peace.
Just because we are young like alexandros, just because we want to dream with dignity where the state and the authorities seed submission and despair. Because we want to live and not just get by this winter, we are enraged and fight for all these.
So we may not forget Alexandros nor have another dead alexandros from a cops bullet.
