Unite with the resentment wave in Greece

Greek Rider | 08.12.2008 16:17 | Analysis | Other Press | Repression

I appeal to the autonomous individuals outside Greece to organise demonstrations and to unite with the unprecedented resentment wave in Greece.

The riots in Greece are frequent. The significant difference in the past lies in the fact that in most cases the protesters were extremely few (appr. 20-30 persons) and conflicts took place in one location only.

This time the protesters in the front line of the riots were a few hundreds who had the
moral support of thousands of other protesters. Many thousands of students have been added to the demostrators today and hundred of thousands of workers and employees are going to be added to them all over Greece due to the scheduled general strike on Wednesday (10 Dec).

The resentment wave has expanded to Germany and Cyprus. At the same time the riots which took place today led to destroyed police-cars and stone-throwing of police-stations.

The extensive destruction which has occurred this couple of days is not due to some weird anarchists, as the Greek mass media claim. It is due to the low quality of life, the ominous perspectives for the young people to find a job and the very harsh conditions in galley-slavery.

Humans have got used to take a pill such as Prozac when the situation surrounding them is too difficult. In this way, the pressure moves within them. Nobody has learned to try to change the social and economic environment with social struggles. For the first time, the social pressure has returned to the society which has created it and nobody is happy with what he/she has seen.

I appeal to the autonomous individuals outside Greece to organise demonstrations on Wednesday (10 Dec) and to unite with the unprecedented resentment wave in Greece. The same social problems apply not only to Greece but also to other countries lying in non-democratic institutions and the excessive power of the big companies with the help of the state.

Another form of social organisation and everyday life is possible but only if we establish a direct economic and political democracy with social equality.
