Dissident Island Tonight - Ho Ho Ho
Dissident Werewolf | 05.12.2008 14:16 | Free Spaces | Repression | Social Struggles
In our last show of 2008 we bring you talk about the Genoa G8 trials, Space Hijackers Christmas spirit, LARC at 10, Professor Kayoss & Critical Mass, and our very own DJ Lung Collapser.
TONIGHT'S SHOW:
The Processi G8 activists talk to us a bit about the legal process in
Italy and their participation in the Genoa G8 trials (the Diaz trial just
came to a close), specifically with observations on police and state
repression in Italy, and the future of international mobilisation efforts.
The Space Hijackers will be in live to chat about their recent Spirit of
Christmas action, and Mark will tell us a bit about the rich history of
the London Action Resource Centre (LARC) as it approaches its 10th
anniversary.
Fresh from the victory in the House of Lords we have Professor Kayoss
in talking to us about all things Critical Mass, giving us a rundown on
recent events and some thoughts on the future.
And to end, a nice, healthy musical night-cap from DJ Lung Collapser…

LAST WEEK'S SHOW:
If you haven't already, give our last show a listen - it features Kevin,
part of the media team for the Camp for Climate Action, talking about the
apparent arrival of the 'Green Scare' phenomenon in the UK and the need to
hold the media accountable for printing liable and fallacious information.
In addition, Paolo, a researcher and participant in various activist
activities talked to us about the organising efforts of the global
environmental and social justice movement through mechanisms such as the
World Social Forum and European Social Forum, and also a bit on the latest
news on the student mobilisations in Italy. The show also features tracks
chosen by our newest member John on Dissident Island Discs, snippets from
the on-going Sumac Debates on the future of the environmental movement, a
vegan recipe, and ends with quality vinyl scratchings from DJ Ursa (of
centrifuge fame).
