Keep Global Warming Below 2°C

Time to Lead | 27.11.2008 15:51 | Climate Chaos

Backed by major environmental groups, Time to Lead is a movement that helps European citizens urge local political leaders to issue support of the 30 percent reduction in Europe’s own carbon emissions by 2020. Citizens act by joining the ‘call to action’ at  http://www.timetolead.eu/.

On the 11th December 2008, European political leaders will decide what their response to global warming is going to be. Last year, they agreed to a 30% cut in greenhouse gas emissions by 2020. Now, with the downturn in the economy, that deal is under threat with only a proposed 20% reduction.

As a result, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace and World Wildlife Fund through the coordination of the Climate Action Network (CAN) formed the campaign Time to Lead. Time to Lead is a movement that urges European citizens and organisations to act by contacting local legislators and issuing support of the 30 percent reduction in Europe’s own carbon emissions by 2020. Citizens act by joining the ‘call to action’ at  http://www.timetolead.eu/.

Lifeless Northern Hemisphere before2050

The Oak Ridge Laboratory refuses to add the increase in temperature due to ice melt in its simulations. The icemelt is equivalent to over 1 degree C per year in the last 10 years (this is easy to calculate using change of state standards). The increase in temperature is not recordable and so is not in the equation. In the absence of appreciable amounts of ice (but including auxiliary assumptions) there is nothing to stop or dissipate a 1 degree increase pa. At 50 degrees plus for over 1 week no movement will be possible for all land life. Our leaders have led us to catastrophe.
