AIR MAURITIUS PRIMATE BAN STILL IN PLACE!

After prolonged negocations, and with the launch of a new campaign imminent, today we have finally received a communique from the Directors of Air Mauritius conclusively stating their company policy!


"To whom it may concern

We wish to confirm that Air Mauritius is not engaged in the transportation of primates for vivisection purposes.

We trust this confirmation will be acceptable to you.

Whilst we are pleased to hear that Air Mauritius have stuck to their company policy after the previous G2H campaign, we still wonder why they weren't as keen to respond to the BUAV survey as the vast majority of airlines who did. Not being involved in the International Primate Trade is something to be proud of, as can be seen from the responses of some of the more reputable airlines who haven't shipped 1000s of innocent monkeys to labs in recent years:

United Airlines: "Please know that we do not support the transportation of non-human primates and we would be happy to be placed on the list that bans this practice."

China Airlines: "On behalf of China Airlines, we would like to extend our appreciation on your dedication to protect the life of primates from unnatural human interference."

Transporting monkeys is more trouble than it's worth, but then you don't need any reminding of that do you Air Mauritius?

It's just a shame that the Nepalese government hasn't learnt the same lesson yet, if only our friend Mr Payen would be so kind as to enlighten them. That way we could then get on with the task of finally closing the farms in Mauritius itself and ending the lucrative temptation to his company to ship innocent creatures to their deaths!
