On Saturday, twelve members of the BNP were arrested in Liverpool city centre while handing out leaflets spreading their message of racism and hate. The fascist BNP are planning to hold a demo in Liverpool this Saturday 29 November!

We are organising a protest to stop the BNP spreading their racist lies in Liverpool. We are calling on everyone to unite against them. If you're black, white, asian or jew, gay or straight, male or female demonstrate to stop them spreading their hate.

Steve Bettley is not on the BNP list

27.11.2008 15:32

The name on the BNP list with an address in Prenton and a request for discretion is Mrs Yvette Bettley. Steve Bettley's wife one assumes. I wonder why Mr Bettley should lose his job or even face prosecution for crimes committed by his wife. A MPS officer (suspected by many of being a spook though) was married to deputy Führer Barnbrook for a while until he dumped her for Simone Clarke.

The BNP are keen on family membership (it boosts the numbers) and it is entirely possible that Mrs Bettley signed her husband up without his knowledge. It would be a foolish police officer who votes BNP, nevermind joining the party. And if he maintains that line, whether or not it is true, when interviewed he'll keep his job.

The List must be correct or someone is commiting an ofence

The list is covered by the Data Protection Act. If Mister Bettley is on the list - and there is no reason to believe that he is not - then the person within the BNP in control of Data Protection is obviously at fault.

Should mister Bettley retain his job, we might assume that he was wrongly on the list. Then there are serious questions to ask about the BNP. How many other people have the BNP falsely portrayed as fascists by, in mister Griffins words "leaking" this list? How many other people are being placed in harms way by the BNP by such tactics?

On the other hand mister Bettley might be a member. In which case he has good cause to ask why the list was leaked at all as doing so breached the Data Protection Act. As the person within the BNP in control of data protection has a duty of care and has failed in that duty, there are serious questions for mister Bettley to address.

Given the sensitivity of a police officer being a member of a proscribed organisation, mister Bettley really ought to consult widely. If he fails to take action against the BNP, the world might conclude he is happily subscribed. Taking action might be sufficient proof to his employers that he is not a member, yet it suggest rank opportunism. The leaking of this list by "disaffected former members" is a disingenious claim.

Increasingly, the point of leaking would seem to be to create a radicalised fascist rump to destabilise communities. A point that is not lost where ordinary people can no longer trust police officers because they might be fascist party members. A technique not unrelated to those of mister Fiore.

Mister Bettley, in upholding the law for the community, would seem to be in the difficult position of having to become an openly antifascist policeman in order to ensure this does not bring his employers into disrepute.

Unless, of course, he chose to be on the list.

Stephen Bettley is on the list I downloaded from wikiLeaks. At the same address as Richard and Yvette.
