Two North Wales Police officers have been given community sentence orders after being filmed kicking and throwing their pet dogs around their back yard.

July 1, 2008

Sarah Whitehead was sentenced on the 30th June to 2 years for removing a beagle which was kept muzzled in a wooden cage in a garden and which an eye witness informed Sarah was also being regularly beaten by its owner.

Above the Law

People who are cruel to animals are more likely to be cruel to children or anyone under their power. This is one mother who deserves regular visits from Social Workers. The Telegraph makes the related point of convicted criminals serving as cops.

Earlier this month it emerged that police officers with convictions for gun crimes, benefit fraud and violent attacks are still serving. The offences include discharging a firearm, possession of a cannabis plant, being drunk and disorderly, assault and theft. Hampshire Police's 4,000 officers have between them 42 convictions - the equivalent of more than one criminal conviction for every 100 officers. Unlike members of the public who break the law, they are protected by Government rules called Police and Misconduct Regulations. These set down a range of alternatives to dismissal - such as a reprimand, fine or reduction in rank. -Telegraph

How on earth can these people be relied upon to treat humans with respect when they can't even treat a defencless animal with the most basic of respect, and not beat it.

Goes to show how anyone can become a police officer.

I feel sorry for those dogs, and I want to say THANK YOU to the neighbour for protecting them!

Fairness?

It is time that the sentances given to animal abusers matched those that are given to those compassionate people who try to prevent such suffering. And why were the RSPCA not able to get evidennce, yet a member of the public used their initiative and was?? RSPCA failed again.
