Sheffield University Union Councillor exposed as a fascist.

Brian Thwaites, currently standing councillor for the Lifelong Learning Institute at Sheffield University, is a member of the British National Party. His membership has been revealed following the leak of the national BNP membership list earlier this week. Mr. Thwaite's Sheffield address is listed on the web site along with his degree (Bachelor of Law) from the university. Mr. Thwaite's membership puts him in breach of the union's "no platform" policy regarding fascist and Neo-Nazi organisations.

The Union of Students and The University of Sheffield take the welfare of all it's students as a priority- and ensures that ALL members are free from harrassment, discrimination and prejucide. The BNP, as a facist party, target those groups who feel vunerable and present false ideology and an "alternative" viewpoint. BNP propose a threat to anyone who isn't a white, fully functional male. Such views of the BNP often include sexism, racism and homophobic views. This takes away from the aims of the UK being a integrated nation where everyone works to become part of the society. Sheffield Students Union are taking a step in the right direction, and are spearheading the fight for equality.
