Urgent: Heathrow protest outside Parliament TODAY, from 5pm

Stop Heathrow Expansion! | 11.11.2008 15:17

There will be a major debate in Parliament this afternoon, from 5pm on the proposed expansion of Heathrow airport. Sympathetic MPs are calling on campaigners to rally outside the Commons.

This is not the decision about Heathrow expansion, which is expected in December. This debate has been prompted by the fact that 50 Labour MPs have signed an Early Day Motion opposing Heathrow expansion. It is an important debate.

MPs have been sent briefing material, but the many who are sympathetic feel it would be valuable to have a presence outside the House [presumably in Parliament Square] as a visible sign of strong public opposition to the Government's plans.

The demonstration will be lawful and peaceful.
