Free London Listings - help us to help you

Free London | 07.11.2008 14:50 | Culture | Other Press

Free London Listings is now approaching the end of it's second month online and is growing fast having attracted 50,000 unique visitors since we launched in September.

We now have over 600 events listed which are free or cost less than £3. These contain comprehensive political listings featuring social centres, protests, actions, meetings and benefits (1).

But we need more. All too often we read the review of a demo on indymedia, but didn't know it was happening in the first place. Free London Listings aims to help change that as well as providing comprehensive information on free cultural, sports, kids and educational activities.

We are in the process of building a database which will list social centres, radical and alternative websites and support services for folk in London who are skint.

This is a site for real Londoners, aiming to provide balance to the crap spouted for commuters by the likes of London Lite. This means, whilst we mention the larger events such as those in the museums, we're far more interested in a jumble sale in Bromley or a talk above a pub in Walthamstow.

And we need your help. Please register to post your campaigns events, benefits* or actions. If you can't be bothered to register then mail us at:  editor@freelondonlistings.co.uk

If you are involved in a Social Centre, venue or other political space then add us to your mailing list.

If you run a radical, alternative or just interesting London website then let us know about it and we'll link to it. All reciprocal links are appreciated but not necessary.

Free London Listings is also looking for submissions about issues facing the lives of Londoners. Remember this is not an activist site, but a site aimed at all Londoners.

We're not looking for demo reports or anarchist rants, but well thought out pieces about real problems, issues and scandals as well as those which offer information about free culture and resources in London.

We hope to begin publishing editorial, opinion and features from the beginning of the New Year.

In the meantime tell your friends, link to us, drop us a line or visit us to find some cheap stuff to do this weekend.
