Against Me! for Eric McDavid

Against Me! lead singer Tom Gabel has just released a song about Eric McDavid and called "Anna is a Stool Pigeon."
Video :  http://www.punknews.org/article/31125
Background : http://www.supporteric.org/background.htm

Eric, Ren and Jensen were activists
Heads loaded with theory, their hearts are filled with passion
Shared the same left wing politics
Liked the same music, they were part of the protest movement
Now, Anna presented herself as a feminist
Studied the way they talked and dressed
Fashioned herself an anarchist
Eric fell in love with Anna at the meeting of the crime think conference
He didn't know it but Anna was an FBI informant

Eric fell in love with an FBI informant
Shared his dreams of revolution
Now he's sitting in solitary confinement
Be careful what you think
Be careful what you say
It might be used against you in court one day
Well Anna thinks she's a hawk
She's just a fucking snitch

The headlines called them the believers
Comparisons were made to a terrorist organization
Well Anna had the car, Anna paid the rent
Anna helped find the recipe to make the explosives
She encouraged her friends to follow through with their plans
They were gonna build a bomb and blow up the Nimbus Dam
From  http://www.6lyrics.com
Their conversations were being recorded
They didn't know it but Anna was an FBI informant

Eric fell in love with an FBI informant
Shared his dreams of revolution
Now he's sitting in solitary confinement
Be careful what you think
Be careful what you say
It might be used against you in court one day
Well Anna thinks she's a hawk
She's just a fucking snitch

Black suburbans and AR-15 rifles
Agents made their arrests in a K-Mart parking lot
Caught with the supplies for the bomb in hand
The three were charged with conspiracy against the government
Ren and Jensen traded testimony in exchange for leniency
Eric was sentenced to twenty years in the penitentiary
Eric, Ren and Jensen were activists
They didn't know it but Anna was an FBI informant

Eric fell in love with an FBI informant
Shared his dreams of revolution
Now he's sitting in solitary confinement
Be careful what you think
Be careful what you say
It might be used against you in court one day
Well Anna thinks she's a hawk
She's just a fucking snitch

Not bad, but have you ever heard?

Of course I can't judge by this how good the music. The lyrics aren't bad, but have you ever heard Peg Millet sing her "He Looked a Whole Lot Like Jesus To Me" ?

(She wasn't actually the member of the group who was sleeping with the enemy, but was one of the ones who ended up doing time)

Anyway, sort of similar situation excpet in that case I believe that the infiltration agent was a pro, not a "wanna be".

Anna may be scum, but let's not be sexist

bones, Anna may be scum, but it has nothing to do with her gender, so I don't think sexism is helpful!

Manifestly Scum

Is any gender-specific insult implicitly sexist ? Is calling Blair a prick sexist ? Is calling Thatcher a whore inaccurate ? Genuine questions inviting genuine opinion. I think of Thatcher and Blair equally as scum, but also as cunts, pricks etc, regsardless of gender. Bad person = bad word. Those words are just rude insults I learned before I knew what body part of what gender they indictated. I think as long as we have arseholes we will call people arseholes without any discernable sexual offence.

I am reminded of shielding my mother from the slogan on the T Shirt of the tweenage protestor next to me on Glasgow Green which read - "At least my Bush doesn't stink". Sex is a weapon we can wield too. Here is a present to all the pretty young feminists out there - and you are all pretty young feminists compared to me, at least those of you who know who shot Andy Warhol and why:

We'll cut you up, we'll shoot you dead
Look out androids in the head

Saving all the men?
Don't know what, don't know what
We're turning Amazon
And we don't need silicone

Infiltrate into the positions of state
Male-race obliterate!

Slaying all the men ?
Don't know what, don't know what
We're turning Amazon
And we don't need silicone

Those lyircs are my best guess. You could always listen to it yourself if you know how to rename a PDF as an MP3.

My lyrics are bogus but I'm happy to share that song here since it is out of print and unlikely to be in print again while being an important historical reminder of 1980's gender politics.
