Afghans in Calais to be mass deported on Anglo/French charter flights

Cimade (repost) | 06.11.2008 13:51 | Anti-racism | Migration | Terror War

This is a the latest result of anglo/french cooperation. As both countries sacrifice the lives of their soldiers in a war they cannot win. The victims of that war will be deported back into harm's way without ever exercising their right to asylum. Its worth remembering that its the Dublin 2 convention that gives the green light for this

Press Communication 5 Novembre 2008

The French government in cooperation with the British authorities, are preparing to send back collectively and by charter Afghan exiles placed in the detention centre at Coquelles . A flight London-Paris-Bakou-Kabul is planned for the coming days

Until today 57 Afghans arrested in the Calis and Dunkirk region have been placed in the Coquelles detention centre. While the humanitarian condition and safety continue to worsen in Afghanistan and the Non governmental organisations like the secretary general of the United Nations declare themselves to be particularly worried about the situation Britain and France organize together charters destined for Kabul

The Cimade denounce collective charters which are contrary to the principle forbidding collective expulsion , and lead to arbitrary, discriminatory and inhuman practices. They are putting the logic of efficiency and profitability over respect for fundamental human rights .

Cimade call for the authorities to immediately stop any project of deportation towards Afghanistan

Deport bogus asylum seekers

06.11.2008 17:05

These individuals have demonstrated that they are economic migrants not genuine asylum seekers by failing to claim asylum in France (assuming that they flew directly from Afghanistan to France). If they came by another route, then they should have claimed asylum in the first safe country.
