Nottingham Is Crap Blog

I have lived in Nottingham for many years and really care about the City. In some ways Nottingham is great with its range of good quality restaurants, great parks and City Centre planting and a range of diverse events and festivals.
However there are many things about Nottingahm which aren't so great. These include a high rate of crime, A City Council that has trouble holding on to its Chief Executives and some very poor Local Authority services.
The response from Senior City Council Officers and Councillors to any negative publicity is to refute it with arguments including that the statistics used are misleading and that other Cities of a comparable size are worse.
I wsih they would spend as much time and energy trying to tackle the problems in Nottingham, as they do trying to promote a good reputation for the City.
We should all demand better for Nottingham.

City centre is crap, suburbs are great

However, the city centre is rubbish. The new market square is sterile and commercial, there's hardly anywhere to get half-decent vegetarian food on Sundays or in the evenings, and most of the music venues are run by the same few people. There's also no arts festival of any kind. Given that the city is the same size as Edinburgh, this is ridiculous.
There also seems to be some policy that a pint of beer in the city centre MUST cost more than £2.50. I was always shocked at how high prices in Nottingham pubs are, they compare with central London. However, the average wage in Nottingham certainly doesn't!
There's also too many student landlords destroying the city and pushing local families out.
