Remember Saro-Wiwa is a coalition of organisations dedicated to keeping alive the memory of Nobel Prize nominee Ken Saro-Wiwa, who led the struggle for environmental and social justice by the Ogoni people of Nigeria against the devastation caused by multinational oil companies. On November the 10th the New Art Exchange in Nottingham is hosting an evening of events, which will commemorate the 13th anniversary of Saro-Wiwa's execution by the Nigerian government and highlight the ongoing crisis in the Niger Delta, the area affected by the oil companies.

Come along and bring your friends! But also, we want individuals and groups to get involved in marking publicly marking the anniversary - through art, music, dance or any other medium. The Living Memorial to Ken Saro-Wiwa, a life-size Nigerian steel bus created by the artist Sokari Douglas-Camp and engraved with Ken's words - 'I accuse the oil companies of genocide against the Ogoni' - will be outside the NAE. It would provide an ideal setting for anyone who wishes to help participate in the event.

Anyone who wishes to get actively involved should contact us soon! Ed -  eddyedness@yahoo.co.uk, 07792203542; Ben -  pop.ben-2@remembersarowiwa.com, 02074033738.
