4 were remanded in animal rights raids. 2 released, 2 remain on remand.

They applied for bail today, 2 were sucessful, 2 weren't.

A couple of weeks ago 4 activists were arrested and eventually remanded for SOCPA and Criminal Damage.
Now, after spending a week on remand, they applied for bail.

Tom Clarke and Vikki Waterhouse-Taylor have been released on tag.
And unfortunately Dean Cain and Luke Steel will remain remanded until 19th December when the trial will take place.
Please send letters to the two who are still remanded:

Luke Steel (WJ4308)

What you can send: Cheques/postal orders made out to 'The Governor'. Books, stationery, stamps; SAEs.

Don't they invariably move prisoners after trials?

check VPSG.org for updates on prison numbers and addys.

They are going back to the same prison

This wasn't a trial, just a bail hearing, so they are returning to the same prisons they came from.

And are we sure they are tagged? I thought electronic tagging was just for convicted prisoners at the end of their sentence.

Tags are used for numerous reasons

23.10.2008 17:01

Tags are commonly used for prisoners after their sentence but can also be used instead of remanding prisoners, so they have control of them to ensure they dont do a runner, but they're not a danger to the public so they can be released.
Also tagging is commonly used as a form of punishment in itself, some people will be sentenced with a couple of months on tag.
I know someone who is on tag for 2 months as a part of a punishment in itself

Hi I just wanted to let you know that they haven't been tagged but they have got curfews and other conditions. Trial isn't 19th December but that is the date for their pleads (Dec.5th is the date for prosecution to submit their "evidence"). Trial won't be until late summer we've been told.
