As financial markets continue to slump around the world, angry students and activists gather in the City of London to voice their anger over the British governments plan to commit over 50 billion GBP of public funds to shore up confidence in British markets.

The protest comes as the scale of the crisis is revealed to include police forces, councils and other public bodies who have been betting with public funds on the markets, raising questions about public accountability and transparency within the public sector.

The Metropolitan Police Authority alone lose over 30 million GBP within a wider national loss estimated at over 1 billion GBP.

The protest comes on the day international markets continue to fail with widespread losses around the world. City of London, London. October 10th 2008.

Maybe we should go every Friday just to keep it going.
A bit like Critical Mass. There's one every month. You only need a time and place and eventually the event establishes itself.

Le vache is interesting, wonder why he's here?

Do you reckon our erstwhile gallic visitor is here on a complementary visit? Just checkin out the moves of the met in a political situation to get a comparable view? Or part of an ongoing european plan to centralise law and order strategy? One thing is for certain, when the french finally do absorb the uk's urban civil disturbance tactics, letting your hair down by burning cars and other institutional symbols and buildings- a sport which has our comrades over there seething with glee- will become a much more militarised and controlled event.

Just think! all thoise demos on the continent where you can still have a good old running battle with the symbols of the state are gonna disappear. Instead we'll get kettles, cauldrons and protective policing and marshalling- just like in the jolly good old UK.

Maybe there were French Protesters in the Crowd? The same kind of thing happens in football matches...
