BBC News website political bias?

SNAFU as ever | 01.10.2008 09:11 | Analysis | Other Press

Is 'Have Your Say' on the BBC news website, a) subtly (¬ so subtly) 'moderated' to set and promote a right wing aganda? Is it being hijacked by right wing organisations from the tory party outwards - with multiple posting and recommendation being easily acomplished.
Seeing as this is funded by ordinary people, don't they have a right to fair use of their resources?
ie; Not being used to create politically biased whispering campaigns?

COMMENT:
How interesting.
i really am flabbergasted at these forums now - the alleged moderation has become so right-wing oriented.
No posts are published for a 24 hour period - so the 'moderation' queue piles up. then, they are posted as a job lot, with all of the pro-tory posts conveniently on page 1.

Something is rotten in the state of beebmark.

i suppose this post is heading for a rejection. i think this needs further investigation.

What is moderation?

01.10.2008 11:44

I gave up, long ago, reading through the so called moderated comments -

a) As already pointed out, it's all right wing gung-ho blather with an occasional sensible comment buried in the mass .
b) Comments which are blatantly and easily proven untrue are posted without a moderators correction. Reporting the inaccuracy merely gets a response that it is not the Beeb's opinion but that of the commentator. So why moderate if they are going to publish falsehoods?

As for posting! I have never managed to find my comment after it's supposed publication, nor has anyone I know.

Ultimately the "Have Your Say" fiasco, the US government conspiracy for 9/11, etc simply show that the beeb is as biased and lacking data on news events has it has been for years.

You have to remember that 'Have Your Say' attracts people who want to do just that - say something in a public forum. They don't want to be burdened by actually having to form a rational argument.

Check out the Twat-o-Tron at the 'spEak You're bRanes' website:

It generates hate-filled right-wing nonsense in the style of the average HYS commenter. Unfortunately, I've posted comments from the Twat-o-Tron on HYS and come back a few hours later to see that they are the most recommended comment.

That's when I usually start thinking up ways to wipe out humanity and give the cockroaches a shot - they can't do much worse.

and the throwing of stones......

I know that aunty will always get a kicking here, but please think before you throw these stones. Look to the TOTALY one sided moderation of THIS website, The rules (top of page for link) even contradict each other in the space of two rules!

It may come as a shock to some, but there are a large number of posts that go unread here because they don't tow the party line, please check out the "hidden" posts (silenced opinion), yes a lot of it is weary nonsense or trolling but it does show a different opinion.

I know that Indy has never said it was unbiased or politicaly indipendant, but before you slag off any other media source please check the history of this organ.

If you think that there is a REAL case of discrimatorial editing at the BBC please whrite to the press complaints commision or the obudsman, because they are publicaly liable.

Unlike Notveryindymedia.......
